TRAFFIC CONES
These lime green and orange traffic cones from JBC Safety are ideal for public road projects throughout the state of New York. All other colors are recommended off road use in valet areas, parking lots and for event parking. White cones can be used for dressage events, navy blue cones for Giants fan parking, green cones for Jets fan parking.

TRAFFIC CONE REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL FIVE NY BOROUGHS
These requirements apply to public roads, streets and sidewalks. Requirements are subject to change at any time. Private property can use 28″ colored cones as delineators as they wish.
The traffic cone requirements for New York City, Manhattan and all five of the Boroughs in regards to sidewalk construction and road construction are as follows:
- Traffic cones must be orange in color.
- Traffic cones must be 28″ – 36″ (36″ for high speed roads) in height.
- Traffic cones must have two white reflectorized bands (for night use) at the top.
- Traffic cones may be supplemented with orange flags.
- Traffic cones must be spaced 6 feet apart and connected with 6-foot long traffic cone bars.
- The taper length for bicycle traffic must be 18 feet long and should start 6 feet before the work zone.
- The taper length for vehicles must be determined based on the speed limit.
- Traffic cones must be placed in a way that clearly delineates the work zone and directs traffic safely around it.
It is important to note that these are just the minimum requirements. In some cases, additional traffic control devices may be required, such as barricades, signs, or flaggers. It is also important to follow all applicable laws and regulations when setting up traffic cones.

- Place cones in a straight line, parallel to the edge of the road.
- Make sure cones are visible from a distance.
